State of the Art Ski Training Clinic

Join me, Jill Darling, to get a jump start on the upcoming ski season with a professional training session by Frank Cartwright, a PSIA Level III ski instructor, on specialized indoor ski training equipment at Bluerun Indoor Ski Training in Livingston, NJ, on Saturday, Aug. 22.

This session is being offered to TCSC members at a 50 percent savings off the regular price and includes lessons by a Level III PSIA instructor for $189. This three-hour class can accommodate five people. Registration for the four additional spots is exclusive to TCSC members until Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. before it will be open to TCSC and EPSC member clubs until Thursday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. Those who register after the four spots are filled will be waitlisted.

Bluerun is a new ski training facility with two ski simulators that provide unique practice slopes. Infinite Slopes is a revolving slope with a conveyor belt carpet that moves uphill. The carpet pulls you backward up the mountain as you do a wedge. Then you bring the skis parallel to ski down. The SkyTech ski simulator is a side-to-side ski machine where you practice making turns. These machines help you practice and refine your technique, build ski-specific strength, and make quality turns.

When: Saturday, August 22, 2-5 p.m.

This is a U-drive trip. Livingston, NJ, is approximately a 2 1/2-hour drive from Binghamton, NY.

Cost: $189 per person (five total spots available) for facility use and lessons with Frank Cartwright.

• Dinner at The Ritz Diner, Livingston, NJ, 5:30 p.m. after the ski clinic.
• Ski at Big Snow on Sunday, Aug. 23 at the American Dream Mall, East Rutherford, NJ. Hours are 1-8 p.m. Two-hour time increments at the regular price are $62.99 or get a Groupon on the web for $45. I’ll be there until 5 p.m. We can go to dinner afterward at The Yardhouse, one level above Big Snow with a view of the slope.
